Lemon Balm

I was super excited about this one! I have been growing lemon balm for a few years and never truly understood its powers. What it’s most known for is its ability to improve sleep, reduce anxiety and promote relaxation, similar to lavender. However, lemon balm is also a light sedative and can be used as a muscle relaxer. It can also help brain function and help with brain fog. The chemical compound of lemon balm is very interesting because it affects the central nervous system. The two most common chemicals naturally found in this herb are rosmarinic and caffeic acid. The therapeutic potentials include antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and anticancer activities. These two chemicals are used in many common treatment’s present day. The difference between over the counter and natural herbs is the lack of side effects.

Lemon balm can be an amazing alternative for melatonin, Tylenol, certain muscle relaxers, and high concentrated sedatives. With that being said, it’s not recommended to mix this herb with other over the counter medications with similar properties. But of course, always do your own research to make sure this herb is right for you!

A few ways to use Lemon Balm:

Tincture or Tea for help with:

-Bloated/upset stomach, depression, stress, insomnia and focus.

Or as a lotion or salve for:

-Cold sores, blisters, sore muscles, open cuts (disinfectant)
